Christ followers response?

02 May

Today I’ve just got a question to ask…

What should the Christ follower’s response be to the news that Bin Laden has been killed?  Also what do you think Jesus’ response is?

I really look forward to reading thoughts.

I’ve been concerned about the response of “winning a game, but here’s a response from Sojourners for consideration:

    Quote of the day.
“Osama bin Laden, as we all know, bore the most serious responsibility for spreading divisions and hatred among populations, causing the deaths of innumerable people, and manipulating religions to this end. In the face of a man’s death, a Christian never rejoices, but reflects on the serious responsibilities of each person before God and before men, and hopes and works so that every event may be the occasion for the further growth of peace and not of hatred.” – Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, Vatican spokesman, on the death of Osama bin Laden.

Sticky situation. You wanna rejoice but you can’t. I often think or examine when someone die. What would i feel if i was in the feet? And I always examine that I cant! I don’t know what his heart was like How can i judge him saying that in his last hour he didn’t fall down to the Lord. We can’t know. And Christ, In whom i love and he gave everyone a choice, If you don’t wanna follow Him it’s a choice. Are we gonna go cry in the corner becasue someone denies the Christ who loves them, What does a parent do when a child disowns them. I know myself can’t congratulate or concure the situation but pray and open up opportunities to share my life as a christian through this. This is a great situation, I know at work the workers are glued to the T.V. I never was a T.V. guy when a national disaster happens, I know I don’t make any sense but im sure you all have the meaning behind this. Main point find a positive in everything. Whats the positive-Lets share our faith when all they want to talk about the murder of Bin Ladden. People are open again the 9/11 door is back open. Praise the Lord!

Great points. I have to admit, since the death of Bin Laden I have been mourning. Not mourning for his death, but instead mourning for the death of love in the hearts of so many Christians. I do think the world is safer with him not in it, and I also believe there is Biblical basis for justly taking a life, but I do not think we should ever celebrate and rejoice at the act. God loves Osama the same way the loves me, and the same way he loves you. It is not less because Osama is less of a man. I thank God that His love is not dependant on any response from me; otherwise God would’ve not been paying much attention to me yesterday as I did not of Him. Andy Gullahorn says it much better then I in this song. You can check it out here:
